KatieProfileMy name is Kathryn Carpenter. I’m a creative strategist, multimedia producer, video editor & photographer.

Whether it’s bringing a narrative to life in a video, creating an engaging interactive experience to educate an audience, or making time stand still within a photograph…

I am most passionate about storytelling.”

I love finding just the right combination of words, images, music and timing to create compelling stories that educate, inspire, move people and make a difference.

I began my career in New York City, working as an assistant in post-production for the Oxygen Network’s “Isaac Mizrahi Show.” It was exciting to see segments come together to tell stories about fashion, life in the city, art and music.

I then moved to Minneapolis and joined the team at Fischer Edit, a post-house specializing in national television commercial editing, motion graphics, and music production. I became an editor there, working on a variety of editing projects ranging from TV commercials to music videos to a feature documentary film on Hurricane Katrina animal rescue efforts.

Learning the art of editing, and how to bring a story down to it’s core was eye-opening and so rewarding… because, it’s been such an important skill that has added value to every area of my work.”

When I moved to South Central Pennsylvania, I was fortunate to head up two health-related multimedia initiatives as Interactive Producer for witf, the PBS and NPR station in Harrisburg. Facing Cancer Together was a first-of-it’s-kind community convening initiative for the station, focused on education and engagement.

The role involved creative strategy for the series, web design, content curation and creation, social media, communications, marketing, live events and multimedia production.

Due to the series’ success, the station launched Transforming Health, which focused on the changing healthcare landscape under the Affordable Care Act. It was a rewarding challenge to help simplify this complex topic and provide resources and tools to help insurance-seekers better-understand their options in order to take control of their own health.

It was exciting to create both of these series from the ground up, working on branding, marketing, web design, content management, and social media. I also enjoyed producing original content for web, TV, radio and magazines.

I’m excited that I have been able to combine many of my personal passions into a career that allows me to help people share their voice and their stories.

I am currently available for freelance work on digital projects, including web design, creative strategy, social media management, writing, video production & editing, and photography. Please take a look at my portfolio to see some examples of my work.
